The inaugural Beers and Bikes took place tonight - Thursday April 16th, 2009! It was a hoot, there were...drum roll please...TWO BIKES! To celebrate the TWO BIKES, we drank TWO BEERS. I had one and Chuck had one. Then we needed to leave because Chuck needed to pick his wife up from BART. Bummer. Hopefully Beers and Bikes will become a regular event, even being modified to "Breakfast and Bikes" (riding to breakfast) or "Balls and Bikes" (riding to a ping pong challenge) or even "Brie and Bikes" (eating smelly cheese on bikes).
Tonight's ride started in Glenview (Oakland). We rode through Lakeshore, around the lake, through downtown - DTO was happening big time as Green Day are playing a bunch of shows at the recently renovated FOX Theatre. I was bummed to ride by the Paramount (two blocks form the FOX) only to see on the marquee that Morrissey is playing on Saturday...F-WORD! I have plans and I love the Moz...guess I don't love him enough to know when he's playing in Oakland. From there we rode through Frank Ogawa Plaza, on to Old Town Oakland, and past the Cop Shop to Jack London Square. Destination: Heinold's First and Last Chance!
Chuck's new bike is quite all white!
Charge! I'm lame.
Awwww...HELL YEAH! Yes, that is a boat in the background fools. There was some ghost town of a boat show happening right in Jack London Square! See the sandwich board sign in the second photo...Heinold even had some specials for the event!
The first beer of Beers and Bikes!
The second beer of Beers and Bikes! Well, actually Chuck's first and only, but the second as in there were two total and I'm counting mine as the first because that picture is first. Just put your finger over the word "chance" in the photo and it all makes sense.
All gone. Time to ride home now...a bit cold.
